Pear, Onion and Gorgonzola Pizza

Pear Gorgonzola Pizza
Pear Gorgonzola Pizza

Move beyond the traditional pepperoni pizza and add a sweet and savory flavor of pears and Gorgonzola cheese. Perfect for Saturday night home movies or as an appetizer for entertaining.

  • 2 large onions, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 4 Tbsp butter
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • 3 -4 large pears
  • lemon juice
  • sugar
  • 2 oz. (or to taste) Gorgonzola, crumbled
  • 2 oz. mozzarella cheese
  • sprinkle of balsamic vinegar

Caramelize the onions in a saute pan. Melt the butter and add olive oil. When hot, add onions and sprinkle with 2 tbsp sugar. Saute until onions begin to brown, then add in the balsamic vinegar and continue to saute until the onions are caramelized.

Toss the pears with lemon juice to prevent them from browning.

Spread the onions on the prepared pizza dough, then arrange pears on top. Sprinkle with Gorgonzola and mozzarella, then place in oven or on grill for recommended cooking time (per the dough).
