Slow Sundays Challenge

Once a month, gather with one, two, three or more families for a Slow Sunday outing. You can choose to met at a park, go on a walk then a picnic, or gather at your home, for several hours of family and friends time. Make no particular agenda, the goal is just to gather and enjoy a meal together.

Set up bocce ball in the backyard, get a game of kickball going amongst the kids, then sit, talk, and enjoy without feeling the pressure of the next ball game you have to go to, deadline for work that must be met, or any scheduled activities. Just empty your mind and enjoy these few hours of family, friends, food and fun.

Here’s how it works:

  • Find your group of friends or family
  • Make the commitment that you will all be committed to putting aside one Sunday a month to gather, reconnect and slow down
  • Decide on a menu – preferably part of the Mediterranean diet. (We’ll provide suggestions if you need)
  • Gather
  • Tell us how it went.
  • Enjoy benefits of healthy eating, socializing, and just plain slowing down. You’ll have the opportunity to try some new recipes as well.

We hope you join us on the Slow Sundays Challenge. Start gathering your friends, and check back to the site next week, and we’ll have a few recipes for you to try.

To inspire you to get started, we’re offering a great give-away for one lucky Slow Sundays participant. Gather together for a Slow Sunday and let us know how it went. Send us an email by June 26th informing us all about your Slow Sunday. We’ll choose one lucky winner to receive the special 25th anniversary 2-piece Starfrit Gourmet ceramic knife set. It includes a 6” Chef and 3” Parer. It is packaged in a special edition storage box and has a suggested retail value of $45!

Send an email to Laura@FamilyEats.net.

Good luck and we look forward to hearing how this relaxed and healthy gathering has helped to make life more enjoyable – Family Eats
