Daiquiri

Daiquiri500
Enjoyed in La Floridita bar — Havana, Cuba (2015)

The daiquiri is said to be discovered over a century ago by a worker in a village called Daiquiri, just outside Santiago, Cuba. It was then popularized in Havana’s La Floridita bar, where Hemingway discovered it. We enjoyed ours at La Foridita, which unfortunately is filled with tourists, but worth the visit. (especially is you get to see Hemingway!)

  • 2 ounces white rum
  • 1 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1/4 cup crushed ice
  • 1 lime slice for garnish

Place the rum, lime juice, sugar and ice in a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into a glass and garnish with lime slice.
