A flavorful loaf bread featuring cinnamon and cloves. I always loved it when my mother would bake this, and now I enjoy baking this recipe for my own family.
- 1-1/2 cups brown sugar
- 2 cups + 2 Tbsp flour
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp cloves
- 1 tsp soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup light cream (or evaporated milk)
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 1 tsp grated lemon rind
Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Line loaf pan with greased wax paper (or parchment paper).
Sift together dry ingredients. Beat eggs with cream in a separate bowl.
Slowly add flour mixture to eggs/cream, and mix well. Stir in melted butter and lemon rind.
Pour into greased pan. Bake 65 minutes, or until done. Cool before slicing
