Our children have always loved to help out in the kitchen. When they were younger, they would sit and watch us, waiting to taste-test whatever it was that Greg and I were making. These days, they are becoming pretty self-sufficient in the kitchen. Here, Addison (age 9) tells us a bit about her love for helping making meals for the family.
Every Saturday I love to have pancakes with my family because we all get to sit around the dining table and eat together, and laugh and tell each other stories! But now that I am nine, I help my Daddy make the pancakes.
I love to be in the kitchen because I learn new things and sometimes I make mistakes, but in the end I learn to do it successfully.
I’ve recently learned to be making more difficult recipes. For example, the most recent thing I helped make was enchiladas with my mom! I will soon be a much better cook than I was when I started. Cooking is a great experience if you want new challenges.
