Breakfast in our house is a communal affair. Whether it is a simple bowl of cereal on weekdays, or our pancake (or waffle) breakfast on Saturday mornings, our family gathers together for the morning meal before we scatter to this-and-that throughout the day.
At times it is a bit harried — especially on the weekdays when we eat breakfast quickly so we can get ready for school – and at other times, it is a bit more relaxed. Personally, I love the slow breakfast mornings.
Whether it is a slow or a fast breakfast, a set table helps add to the ‘event.’ It transforms the occasion, and reminds us to pause and reflect on the food we are eating — and the family sitting at the table with us.
This Spring, Alessi adds to designer Marcel Wanders’ successful Dressed collection, originally introduced in 2011, as well as the debut of Dressed in Wood.
With the most important meal of the day in mind, the new collection includes classic items found on the breakfast table, such as the creamer, sugar bowl, and butter dish, as well as items for various special occasions, such as the egg cup and spoon with opener. For each item, the Dutch designer focuses his attention on the details of the forms, this time applying the classic Dressed decoration in a selective way. With an elegance that recalls classic lines, Wanders pairs time-honored style with a contemporary slant.With this new look, Marcel Wanders makes breakfast a special daily ritual.
