The creamy, garlicky-herb flavor of ranch dressing is a favorite around here. We go through lots of it for everything from topping salads to dipping veggies, French fries, and chicken fingers.
There are a lot of different recipes for homemade ranch, with little tweaks that change the taste slightly. We found that this combination of ingredients is the one that will make us ditch the store-bought version! Go ahead and try – it only takes a few minutes to make!
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 3/4 – 1 teaspoon dried dill weed, or fresh
- 1/2 teaspoon dried or fresh (chopped) parsley
- 1/2 teaspoon dried or fresh (chopped) chives
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/8 teaspoon freshly cracked pepper
- 1-3 tsp freshly squeezed lemon juice (or use white vinegar), to taste
Whisk together the mayonnaise, sour cream and milk until smooth.
Add the spices and whisk until combined, followed by lemon juice. Give one last whisk.
Pour into a container and you can keep it fresh in the refrigerator for up to a week.
