Cuba Libre

CubaLibre500

Literally meaning “Free Cuba,” this classic cocktail dates back to the Spanish-American War (1898), when Cuba gained independence from Spanish Rule. American soldiers fighting the war enjoyed this and helped bring it to popularity.

  • 1-1/2 ounces dark rum
  • Coke
  • ice cubes
  • 1 lime wedge
  • lime slice for garnish

Pour the rum into a tall glass, add some ice and fill with Coke. Squeeze the lime wedge into the cocktail and garnish the glass with a slice of lime.
