Bake a Cake

For centuries, cakes have been used to mark occasions from religious holidays to weddings, birthdays, and other life moments. Whether they are  enjoyed as part of special or everyday celebrations, having a cake is a simple act that everyone, young and old, remembers.

Around here, a homemade cake is a birthday tradition that is a MUST. I may have taken cue from my mom, who often fashioned theme cakes for us when I was young. I’ve carried on the tradition, creating a host of designs including the mermaid cake, the fish cake, the squid cake the plants vs zombies cake, the Captain America cake . . .  (check out my Birthday Cakes Pinterest page)

As they grow older, the theme matter less, but the homemade cake is essential.

With the new year, bake a cake. Be it for a birthday, a celebration, or for a regular day. It is a great tradition that brings family and friends together.
